EVENT: Philip Levine reading



The fourth installment of the Fresno Poets' Association 2006-07 reading series is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 1, with poet Philip Levine.

Levine is one of the most influential writers in the history of the central San Joaquin Valley, and he taught poetry at Fresno State for four decades. He has published more than 20 books of poetry, prose, and translations. He has won dozens of major literary prizes, including the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for the poetry collection The Simple Truth and the 1991 National Book Award for the poetry collection What Work Is. Levine's most recent book is the 2004 collection Breath.

The event begins at 7:30 p.m. inside the Bonner Auditorium at the Fresno Art Museum. There will be a book-signing and reception after the reading. Cost: $5 general, $4 for students. Visit FresnoPoets.org for details.
