EVENT: Inner Ear Poetry Jam

Still one of the longest-running performance poetry events in town, the Inner Ear Poetry Jam will celebrate its fifth anniversary on Thursday, May 17. The special anniversary edition--featuring visiting performance poets Beau Sia and Tim Z. Hernandez--will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Full Circle Brewery downtown, 620 F. Street. Cost: $10 advance, $12 at the door.

The Inner Ear is co-hosted by recent Fresno MFA graduate Deanna Pierro, pictured left above, with fellow conspirators DJ Smack Jilly and Bryan Medina.

The Inner Ear Poetry Jam, held the third Thursday of each month, bills itself as "a live open mic venue showcasing Central California artists in spoken-word, art, music, and performance." A similar performance event, the Beat-Down Poetry Slam, is held on the third Tuesday of each month at Javawava in the Tower District.

It seems like it will be a fun event tonight. I won't be able to make it, but have fun! You might like SpokenWordArt.com.
