The award-winning author and New Yorker staff writer will host a Q&A session at 3 PM and read from her work starting at 7 PM in the Peters Recreation Center, with a book signing to follow. Orlean is the author of The Orchid Thief, a profile of Florida orchid grower, breeder, and collector John Laroche, The Bullfighter Checks Her Make-up: My Encounters with Extraordinary People, and My Kind of Place: Travel Stories from a Woman Who's Been Everywhere. She has contributed articles to Vogue, Rolling Stone, Esquire, and Outside, and is currently at work on a biographical history about the dog actor Rin Tin Tin.
